Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: We present the case of a 68-year-old woman who presented with left eye corneal ulcer. Corneal scrapings and microbiological evaluation revealed fungal corneal infection due to Neoscytalidium dimidiatum. The patient responded well to topical natamycin, voriconazole, atropine, and oral itraconazole. At six-week follow-up, visual acuity improved to 6/9 with a quiet eye and a nebulomacular corneal scar. Accurate identification by appropriate microbiological investigations along with a review of literature on N. dimidiatum keratitis is presented.
