Development of an Autonomous Lunar Rover for Extraterrestrial Research

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The development of interplanetary rovers is key to advancing space science, particularly in the search for extraterrestrial life and understanding celestial bodies like the Moon. These rovers, equipped with advanced sensors, study lunar conditions to assess the potential for life and monitor changes in gravity and environmental factors. By comparing these conditions with Earth, rovers help improve technologies such as rover design, spacesuits, and rocket systems, ensuring future missions that can adapt to extreme space environments. This paper outlines the design and build of a lunar vehicle powered by a high-end dry battery, with plans for solar panel integration in the future. Managed by an Arduino Uno and Mega microprocessor, the lunar rover is equipped with temperature, humidity, and gyro sensors to monitor conditions and track gravity-induced acceleration. A guided sensor enables autonomous navigation, ensuring safe and efficient movement across the lunar surface. These rover design and communications innovations are essential for future space exploration, enhancing spacecraft, habitats, and vehicles for long-duration missions.
