Abstract: Diabetes is a disease requiring long-term control of a life-style, and many patients do self-monitoring. We developed a support program to put self-data to practical use effectively by self-monitoring, and an evaluation was conducted. The developed system consists of a personal digital assistant (PDA), a client PC, a server PC, and the patient inputs into it using the PDA. The input information is forwarded to the client PC by wireless LAN. The evaluation of the system was conducted in a youth group and diabetic group. Results indicated that, although the PDA was evaluated as excellent, problems such as "the characters were small" and "inputting the characters was difficult" remained. Other necessary refinements became clear as a result of interview data from the diabetic group. In addition, the evaluation " I became interested in self-care" was obtained because of the feed-back function of the system.
