Abstract: Chatbots are computer applications using artificial intelligence (AI) to conduct conversations with human users.In this study, we use an AI-chatbot system to answer studentsʼ problems related to our course "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI Gairon)".Some surveys we conducted have shown that students were familiar with LINE as a communication platform, therefore we developed two types of LINE chatbot systems for the course.First, a scenariobased chatbot system was selected because of its simplicity.However, because of its specifications, its responses to student inquiries were not satisfactory.Therefore, we implemented AI so as to enable the chatbot to improve the answer selection by learning from interactions with students and expanding the knowledge base.As a result, we introduced an AI-based chatbot, both to improve its usability and to provide students with hands-on experience with AI technology.Here we provide the developmental processes of these chatbots in detail and report their features and performance.Finally, we evaluate these two chatbots based on the studentsʼ reactions and describe the points to be improved as well as the forward perspective.
