Non-oral tissue regeneration, angiogenesis, and healing with enamel matrix derivative
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction: Enamel matrix derivative (EMD) is a biomaterial derived from developing porcine tooth structures, primarily composed of amelogenins, which have been shown to regulate fibroblast and osteoblast activity. While EMD is well-established in periodontal regeneration, its potential in non-oral tissue healing and regeneration is less explored. This review aims to systematically assess the existing literature on the application of EMD in non-oral tissue regeneration, evaluating its biological effects, mechanisms of action, and potential clinical applications.
