181eP Targeting thyroid cancer: In vitro analysis of a benzofuran-substituted chalcone compound
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell proliferation and the formation of tissue masses that can spread via blood and lymphatic vessels. These processes arise from abnormalities in cell division and genetic mutations, leading to enhanced tumor growth and reduced immune-mediated elimination of malignant cells. Thyroid cancer, the most common endocrine malignancy worldwide, poses a significant health burden, particularly among women. Chalcones, derived from natural compounds and precursors of flavonoids, are known to hold promise in cancer treatment due to their anticarcinogenic effects in many types of cancer, including thyroid cancer.
