148P Mic60 loss as a driver of aggressive breast cancer phenotype

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy among women and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Despite advances in early detection and therapy, the intrinsic heterogeneity of BC poses significant clinical challenges. Mitochondria have recently emerged as key regulators of tumor growth and metabolic adaptation. Mic60 (Mitofilin), a central component of the MICOS complex responsible for maintaining mitochondrial cristae structure and respiratory function, has been linked to increased tumor invasiveness and altered proliferation when its expression is reduced.
