Abstract: Scimitar syndrome (SS) is a rare congenital condition marked by partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection, dextroposition of the heart, right lung hypoplasia, and systemic arterial supply to the right lung. Also known as congenital veno-lobar syndrome and other names, it has been classified into three types by Lupius et al. A significant number of cases are associated with congenital heart anomalies, while association with acquired cardiac disease is rare. We present the rare case of a 39-year-old woman with exertional dyspnoea during pregnancy, initially diagnosed with mild mitral stenosis, later found to have SS with rheumatic heart disease.
