Abstract: As the power sector moves toward decarbonization with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, flexible energy use based on a “Dynamic CO2 Emission Factor” that reflects hourly emission intensity is becoming important, replacing the CO2 emission factor that is evaluated at a fixed value. In this study, we calculated Dynamic CO2 Emission Factors based on actual electricity supply and demand data in the Tokyo metropolitan area, examined low-carbon operation methods for regional energy systems including cogeneration, and evaluated the overall emission reduction effects of the region through simulation.
