Abstract: The Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST) and the Royal Colleges of Surgery oversee the surgical training for surgical specialties. To join higher general surgery training for the full six years, trainees have to complete the Royal Colleges’ membership exams (MRCS) and satisfactorily complete the core surgical training for two years. After completing 6 years of higher surgical training and the Royal Colleges’ fellowship exam (FRCS), trainees are awarded the certificate of completion of training (CCT).
