Abstract: The complement system is a central component of the innate immune system, and it is a bridge to the adaptive immune system. With this broad functional reach, dysregulation of this system contributes to a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Drugs that inhibit the complement system have dramatically improved outcomes in many previously untreatable diseases, and the number of approved indications is growing rapidly, requiring specialists and generalists alike to be familiar with these drugs.
