Translational research – Maintaining resilience despite the psychosocial challenges of coping with children's complex chronic conditions: Adaptation and quality of life
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Children's complex chronic conditions forever change the lives of children and their families. With the diagnosis of a complex chronic condition, children and their families are suddenly challenged to integrate the chronic condition into their everyday lives. Children and their families must learn to cope with and adapt to the unpredictable trajectory of the complex chronic condition, treatment, and hospitalization. Not only are children and their families coping with the multiple physical and functional health challenges, but they must also cope with the psychosocial challenges that are created by the child's chronic condition and treatment.
