Microbial regulation of intestinal stem cell function: implications for alleviating intestinal injury of weaned piglets
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This review highlights how gut microbiota regulates intestinal stem cell function. Weaning stress disrupts this balance, causing intestinal injury in piglets. However, targeted nutritional interventions can modulate the gut microbiota to restore ISC function and repair tissue damage. Understanding this microbe-ISC interaction provides new, effective strategies to improve gut health and alleviate weaning-induced injury in animals.
