The care of breach and the care of wound: Real day-to-day clinical practice with adolescents in the face of psychotrauma.
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: BACKGROUND: The psychopathology of simple or complex trauma is now well-described and specific treatments are increasingly being developed in adults. But clinical practice in adolescent psychiatry faces a number of difficulties in articulating these models of trauma and day-to-day reality: rarity of clinical presentation linking traumatic event from the outset, misdiagnosis, patients' difficulty to deal with traumatic issues, and environmental determinants to take into account. OBJECTIVE: This article looks at how everyday practice in psychiatry can be articulated to the specific characteristics of simple and complex trauma in adolescence. METHOD: both cause and consequence, which helps to clarify therapeutic focus. RESULTS: and the treatment also relies on family and institutional resources, focusing mainly on trauma-informed containment and, if possible, on traumatic elaboration. CONCLUSIONS: It is possible to distinguish between levels of traumatic damage, which will determine therapeutic decisions based on system-level needs, from the individual to the family and then the institutional level.
