The horse of Bevis of Southampton, about whom was written an anonymous medieval romance, and whose exploits are recorded likewise in Drayton’s Polyolbion. It is believed that the first form of this romance dates from the tenth century and was based upon the original story of Hamlet in Danish legends.Exhibit label:ARUNDEL, THE HORSE OF BEVIS OF SOUTHAMPTON.A gift from Rhadamanthus, Judge of All Mankind.
