Abstract: Ag nanodendrites (AgNDs) were formed on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) cast-coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) by electroreduction of Ag+ with the assistance of pyridine-4-carboxylic acid (PyCA). The prepared AgNDs/CNTs/GCE was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electrochemistry techniques, confirming that the electrodeposited Ag crystalline exhibited a nanodendrites morphology and predominantly covered by (111) facets. This nanoarchitecture provides the AgNDs a large surface area and specific crystal anisotropy. The abundant active sites of CNTs and PyCA’s ability in modulating crystal facets promoted the evolution of the silver nanoarchitecture. Differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) determination of Pb2+ and Cd2+ was performed on AgNDs/CNTs/GCE, yielding well-defined anodic stripping peaks and good performance. Sensitivity values of 0.39 µA ppb−1 (Pb2+) and 0.18 µA ppb−1 (Cd2+), as well as the limit of detections of 0.16 ppb (Pb2+) and 0.37 ppb (Cd2+) were obtained (3 σ/S method). The corresponding linear dynamic ranges were 0.55–50 ppb for Pb2+ and 1.2–50 for Cd2+. AgNDs/CNTs/GCE exhibited good stability, reproducibility and immunity to interference, especially for Cu2+, which is a significant issue for bismuth-based electrodes. The method has been successfully applied to the measurement of Pb2+ and Cd2+ in water samples.
