Trajectories of Behavior Problems in Early Childhood: Identifying Patterns and Predictors from Ages 1 to 3
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The current study aims to investigate person-centered trajectories of behavior problems across ages 1, 2, and 3 using data from the Early Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey in order to identify subgroups of children that display consistently elevated or worsening behavior problems. We also aim to investigate whether poorer child language ability, higher levels of parenting stress, and higher cumulative sociodemographic risk at age 1 are associated with elevated behavior problem trajectories across ages 1 to 3.
