The present study aimed to identify the most common irrational ideas among deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach, and the Irrational Ideas Scale was administered to a sample of (35) deaf and hard-of-hearing female students at the intermediate and secondary levels in the city of Hail. The findings revealed that the level of irrational ideas among deaf and hard-of-hearing female students was moderate across most dimensions. The dimension of feelings of helplessness and past experiences ranked first, followed by the need for approval and validation, dependency, distress over others’ problems, and finally catastrophizing and emotional impulsivity. The findings indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the total score of irrational ideas attributable to the degree of hearing loss. However, higher mean scores were observed in four dimensions among students with mild hearing loss, namely: expecting disasters and catastrophes, emotional impulsivity, feelings of helplessness and past experiences, and distress over others’ problems. In contrast, the higher mean among students with severe hearing loss was limited to one dimension only, namely avoidance of problems. In light of these results, the study recommended the importance of identifying irrational ideas among deaf and hard-of-hearing female students and designing counseling programs that contribute to modifying these ideas and enhancing psychological and social adjustment.
