Abstract: This policy brief outlines how the European Union is reinforcing its semiconductor strategy through policy initiatives such as the EU Chips Act, aimed at strengthening technological capacity and reducing supply chain vulnerabilities. While Europe maintains strong positions in semiconductor equipment and research, institutional analyses highlight ongoing challenges, including ecosystem fragmentation, skills shortages, and reliance on external suppliers for key stages of production. Addressing these issues remains central to improving the EU’s competitiveness in the global semiconductor market.
