Abstract: This article addresses the development of the concept of classification. The objective is to describe and analyze the work carried out with a deaf-blind student through a case study, using concrete materials for teaching mathematics. To this end, two activities were conducted, recorded, and transcribed: the first aimed at classifying objects by size and color; and the second at classifying by one or more attributes, including the organization of objects by color, shape, size, and thickness. The results showed that the student had difficulty expressing herself, requiring the teacher's assistance; she correctly identified colors and verified shapes more efficiently than thickness. It is concluded that it is important to consider that the process is gradual and individual for each deaf-blind child, and that teaching mathematics is necessary for the inclusion of these individuals in the school environment.
