Theory of the Electron: II. Electric Charges as Quantum-Mechanical Operators

Year: 2026
Type: report
Abstract: In the electron model developed in Part I an elementary charge orbits with speed of light c on a circular loop with a radius equal to the Compton radius. Laterally it is confined to a filament or string with the smallest physically possible cross-section with a radius equal to about one Planck length. The electromagnetic fields generated by the electric charge and current calculated classically account for only ¼ of the kinetic energy of the electron and ¼ of its angular momentum. This discrepancy is resolved here in Part II. The electric charge – in classical electrodynamics a constant – is assumed to be a quantum mechanical operator acting on a hypothetical electromagnetic charge oscillator. The electric charge fluctuates and a ‘dual’ fluctuating magnetic charge is induced. These charges generate fluctuating electromagnetic fields which enhance the field energy by a factor of 4.
