Abstract: As climate change has accelerated in recent years, the risk of compound disasters, in which multiple hazards are spatially and temporally interconnected and cause simultaneous or cascading impacts, has increased. As the occurrence of compound disasters has rapidly increased worldwide, research on them has been actively conducted at the global scale. However, as of 2025, studies on compound disasters will remain limited to Korea, and most disaster-related research will predominantly focus on single-hazard events. Therefore, this study employed a bibliometric approach to conduct a comprehensive literature analysis of compound disaster research, using bibliographic information (authors, keywords, and research institutions) from studies published between 1995 and 2024. The results revealed that compound disaster research exhibited distinct temporal shifts in research themes and structures, evolving from an initial focus on risk assessment to integrated analyses that incorporated climate change, resilience, artificial intelligence, and remote sensing. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to establishing a foundational knowledge base for compound disaster research in Korea and to provide insights and directions for future research.
