Validity, Truth, and Limits: A Structure-Genetic Reconstruction of Tarski, Gödel, and Popper

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This paper develops a structure-genetic theory of validity and reconstructs key positions by Tarski, Gödel, and Popper as complementary boundary conditions of scientific validity.Terminological Note on “Geltung”:The German term Geltung is provisionally rendered as validity. This is an unavoidable but incomplete translation. While validity usually suggests logical correctness, legal force, or methodological validation, Geltung in this work designates a more fundamental structure: the claim to validity, the conditions of its fulfilment, and the possibility of its guided continuation under the horizon of truth. Accordingly, validity should not be understood as a full conceptual equivalent, but as an English approximation of the German term Geltung.
