Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: We report 5 gonorrhea cases caused by ceftriaxone-resistant penA-60-carrying Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria during January-April 2025 in Thailand, successfully cured by ceftriaxone therapy. Most patients had prior over-the-counter antimicrobial drug exposure. Ceftriaxone-resistant gonococcal strains are spreading in Thailand, and strengthened gonorrhea and resistance surveillance and effective antimicrobial stewardship programs are needed.
