Case Report: Prostate Metastasis From Esophageal Carcinoma Detected by [18F]FDG PET/CT

Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Esophageal cancer metastasizing to the prostate is extremely rare, with only sporadic cases reported in the literature. Here, we present a case of esophageal cancer with prostate metastasis detected by [ 18 F]FDG PET/CT in an 84-year-old man with multisite metastatic disease. [ 18 F]FDG PET/CT demonstrated markedly increased glucose metabolism in both the primary esophageal lesion and the prostate, enabling the detection of this uncommon metastatic site. This case underscores the important role of [ 18 F]FDG PET/CT in accurately identifying atypical metastatic patterns, thereby enhancing diagnostic precision and informing clinical staging and management strategies in patients with advanced malignancies.
