“Hedgehog 3D artifact” — an uncommon intracardiac air embolic complication of the M-TEER procedure
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) is increasingly performed in patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) who are at high risk for conventional cardiac surgery [1,2].Although this minimally invasive percutaneous technique is safe and effective in reducing MR severity, rare complications such as air embolism have been reported [3].Herein, we present a unique case of periprocedural intracardiac air with uncommon two-and three-dimensional (3D) echocardiographic artifacts.
