Abstract: This research paper explores the motivations behind cyber-attacks and examines the global landscape of hacking. It provides a comparative analysis of hacking impacts in major economies, including China, the USA, and Russia, while offering a deep dive into the national perspective of India, focusing on regional case studies from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Haryana. The study categorizes hacker profiles—from financial hackers to hacktivists—and evaluates the socio-economic consequences of breaches in the financial, medical, and infrastructure sectors. Finally, it proposes practical mitigation strategies, such as the implementation of advanced firewalls and anti-virus protocols, to enhance digital security.
