A Narrow Band Imaging-Based Detection of Suspected Early Gastric Carcinoma Presenting as Paris Type 0-IIb Lesion with Associated Helicobacter pylori-Positive Erosive Gastroduodenitis: A Detailed Case Report

Year: 2026

Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Early gastric carcinoma (EGC) is defined as carcinoma confined to the gastric mucosa or submucosa, irrespective of lymph node status. This case report describes a 65-year-old male who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and was found to have a subtle superficial flat lesion in the distal body of the stomach. Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) showed altered mucosal and vascular patterns suspicious for early gastric carcinoma, and the lesion was classified as Paris Type 0-IIb. Associated erosive antral gastritis, multiple duodenal ulcerations, and Helicobacter pylori positivity were also documented. The case highlights the diagnostic value of image-enhanced endoscopy in identifying subtle gastric neoplastic lesions that may be missed on routine white-light examination.
