Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: “Peer review” is the process of having one’s text, such as an academic paper, read by another, who is considered a “peer”. Peer review is widely considered the “gold standard” of modern science. On the other hand, there exists “expert opinion” which is the opinion of someone considered an “expert”. Expert opinion is considered a weakly scientific or unscientific form of evidence. What is the difference between peer review and expert opinion?
