Abstract: Expert Systems are an important branch of Artificial Intelligence that simulate the decision-making ability of human experts. They use a knowledge base and inference engine to solve complex problems, provide recommendations, and support decision-making in various fields such as healthcare, banking, education, and Library and Information Science (LIS). Different kinds of expert systems, including rule-based, fuzzy logic, neural network, and hybrid systems, are designed to handle specific tasks efficiently. Components like the knowledge base, inference engine, user interface, and explanation facility work together to make the system intelligent and reliable. Expert systems improve accuracy, consistency, speed, and efficiency in problem-solving and information management.
