A Brief Overview and Update of Regenerative Medicine for the Treatment of Musculoskeletal Conditions
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: There is an increasing burden of musculoskeletal disease within the United States and worldwide. Globally, there is an estimated 240 million individuals that have symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA), including 10% of men and 18% of women age 60 and older, with an annual incidence of symptomatic hip and knee OA increasing by 9.3% and 8.2% respectively since 1990 [ 1 ]. Within this large aging patient population there is an increasing incidence of complex medical comorbidities that necessitate the development of alternative treatment modalities for various musculoskeletal conditions.
