Abstract This study aimed to examine the performance level of sign language interpreters in translating spoken language into sign language within the context of , specifically in the Saudi “Ain Educational Channels.” The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and was conducted on a comprehensive sample of ten interpreters. Observation was used as the primary data collection tool to evaluate interpreters’ performance in conveying spoken content into sign language. The study also explored differences in performance based on years of experience and number of training hours. The findings revealed that the average translation rate from spoken language to sign language was 40.4%, which is considered below average, indicating a relative deficiency in fully conveying educational content to deaf students. Additionally, there was notable variation among interpreters, with translation rates ranging from 21.3% to 60.76%. However, the results showed no statistically significant differences in performance attributable to years of experience or training hours, suggesting that these factors do not significantly influence translation quality. The study attributes the low performance level to several factors, including insufficient specialized training programs, lack of continuous evaluation and monitoring systems, and the complexity of educational content, which often includes abstract concepts and technical terminology. The study recommends the development of structured training programs, the establishment of professional standards for interpreter evaluation, and ongoing quality assurance measures to enhance translation accuracy and ensure effective knowledge transfer to deaf learners.
