Abstract: An expert group of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) considered ethical issues arising from research use of new forms of data, including so-called ��big data��. It provided a set of high-level recommendations that could underpin a system for the ethical governance of research. Christa van Zyl outlines the results.
