Abstract: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the urinary bladder is a rare nonurothelial histological variant, accounting for approximately 2%–5% of all bladder cancers. It is generally associated with aggressive clinical behaviour and poor prognosis. The major risk factors for bladder SCC include schistosomiasis and chronic urothelial irritation. We present a case of bladder SCC that developed in the setting of a permanent suprapubic catheter maintained for over 10 years.
