Estimating carbon footprints and economic trade-offs in Mongolia's cashmere value chain: An integrated system dynamics approach
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: • Trade-offs between economic and environmental gains in the cashmere value chain are vital. • Electricity use during the dehairing process is the highest contributor to GHG emissions. • Transportation of dehaired cashmere to end processors is the second-highest contributor to GHG emissions. • Prohibiting the export of scoured cashmere from Mongolia would increase the economic trade-off.
