Abstract: There are now many established and new targets for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and connective tissue diseases. Treatment with conventional (c), biologic (b) and targeted synthetic (ts) disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs has become a daily routine in rheumatologic care, mainly but not only in secondary and tertiary centres. In addition, specialists in oncology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and others are using drugs targeting a whole spectrum of antigens in the immune system. This narrative review presents and shortly discusses several new targets and agents of potential use to treat rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases.
