Axis-DIRX Framework:A Four-Stage Model of Cognitive Processing and Personality Formation
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This paper proposes the Axis-DIRX framework, a unified computational model describing the flow of information processing from sensory reception to linguistic expression and its role in personality formation. Building upon the SCR (Sampling–Categorizing–Rendering) framework, Externalization is introduced as an independent fourth layer. In Externalization, activated semantic concepts are formalized as a minimization process of expected free energy (G) conditioned on n constraints, including intention, listener model, situational norms, and Social Suppression Load (SSL). Words are not “selected” through parallel search among candidates; rather, they emerge by naturally converging into the potential well of the Tesseract conceptual structure. Furthermore, the paper demonstrates that the repetition of DIRX processing by neural loops inscribes an individual-specific trajectory (Axis) within the four-dimensional semantic space, making a central contribution to personality formation. Axis is defined as an information-geometric distance structure within semantic space and expressed as the probability distribution of replay channel selection among internalized others. The paper also discusses the complementary relationship with Attachment Theory, the differentiation from BIG5, and the possibility of SSL isolation observation using Tourette coprolalia. The framework is consistently grounded in the Free Energy Principle (Friston, 2010). Axis-DIRX is positioned as a novel computational framework providing an integrated description of linguistic expression, personality, and cognition.
