Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Background. The scientific study was conducted in the field of linguoaxiology with the aim of researching the evaluative meanings of abbreviative derivatives in the communicative space of the Russian-Ukrainian war. During 2014-2026, Ukrainian linguists conducted numerous studies related to the analysis of the vocabulary of the specified period, and each those scientific edition complements the modern linguistic picture. The communicative space under study is accompanied by turbulent events, victories and losses, which cause an emotional reaction in Ukrainian speakers, which is reflected in their speech, and the emergence of neologisms, which determines the relevance of the study. Methods. General scientific (induction, modelling, synthesis) and linguistic methods (structural, content and discourse analysis, conceptual analysis, axiological, interpretative, descriptive) were applied. Results. The scientific study identifies, graded, described and illustrated six axiological scales based on the evaluative meanings of abbreviative derivatives found in media and colloquial discourse, and in social media speech, and constructed a model of the axiological nature of abbreviated derivatives. This model includes the following aspects: subject of evaluation, object of evaluation, evaluative predicate, basis of evaluation: 1) names of persons related to the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, 2) level of expression, 3) degree of moral and ethical evaluation, 4) level of influence of information during communication, 5) dynamic of evaluation in a diachronic dimension, 6) role of means of waging the Russian-Ukrainian war, evaluative stereotype; evaluative scale: negative evaluation (N), partially negative (PN), neutral (N), partially positive (PP), positive (P). Сonclusions. An analysis of linguistic research and selected factual material shows that the communicative space of the Russian-Ukrainian war is filled with neologisms, often negatively marked, given the emotions that arise in speakers in connection with the war. The identified axiological meanings of abbreviative derivatives reflect the mood of Ukrainian society during the period in question, its progress, and its educational and cultural emphases. The results of the study can be useful not only in supplementing the current linguistic picture, but also in the internal and external policy of the state, in the search for means to combat enemy propaganda, and in building vectors of dialogue between institutional and non-institutional organisations and Ukrainian society during the Russian-Ukrainian war and after its end.
