However, traditional extension systems often face challenges such as limited manpower, delayed communication, and difficulty in delivering location specific advisory services to a large farming population. In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has emerged as an innovative technology capable of strengthening agricultural extension services by improving the speed, accuracy, and accessibility of information delivery. Artificial Intelligence enables computer-based systems to learn from data, recognize patterns, and support decision making processes. In agriculture, these technologies help farmers and extension professionals analyze complex information related to weather conditions, soil characteristics, crop health, and market trends. By processing large volumes of data quickly, Artificial Intelligence based tools provide timely and personalized recommendations that improve farm management decisions. Several digital platforms such as CropIn, Plantix, Fasal, Farmonaut, DeHaat, KissanAI, and PlantVillage Nuru assist farmers through real time advisory services, pest and disease diagnosis, crop monitoring, and climate related guidance. These technologies support precision farming practices including smart irrigation, crop surveillance, and improved resource management. The integration of Artificial Intelligence in extension systems can enhance productivity, strengthen climate resilience, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development and global food security.
