Abstract: We evaluated English-speaking medium/trance channeler certification programs. Certifications were descriptively outlined, and a comprehensive scoring matrix emerged for certification comparisons. Six certifications met the study inclusion criteria. Final scoring was intended to measure the extent to which certification status ensures practitioner competence and public safety through five core elements: skills assessment, protocol transparency, grief training, ethics training, and personal interviews. There were vast differences in the quality of descriptive data available for certifications. Future work is needed to standardise medium/trance channeler certifications to ensure public protection, most notably grief training, ethics training, and transparency of skills assessment protocols.
