Preliminary Investigation of the Chromatography of Beef-Liver Catalase

Abstract: A description is presented of the methods and results of liquid-column chromatography of beef-liver catalase using DEAE-cellulose, DEAE-Sephadex, and Dowex-2x10 as adsorbents; varying concentrations and combinations of tris-hydroxymethyl aminomethane and HCl, NaCl, sodium phosphates, and KCN buffers as eluents; and spectrophotometric and Kat. F. data on individual chromatographic fractions as bases for analysis and interpretation of the chromatograms. Peaks were identified, were analyzed for iron and amino acid composition, and were separately rechromatographed.
