STAR Protocols question-and-answer series: Organoids
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Organoids can recapitulate essential physiological features of the tissue of origin, making them a promising in vitro model for studying human organ development and disease. Organoid technology can complement animal models by enabling research questions that were not addressable due to lack of tissues. However, reproducibility remains challenging, likely due to variability introduced during organoid generation and/or handling. In this backstory, STAR Protocols authors and advisory board members share their advice on common questions about organoids.
