GoRent: Open-source software for transparent rule-based rental risk assessment and intervention support
Year: 2026
Type: software-paper
Abstract: GoRent is open-source software for tenancy management and transparent recurring-payment risk assessment in small and medium rental portfolios. The system integrates property and unit administration, tenant assignment, payment-history recording, notification workflows, and a rule-based conversational interface that answers risk-related operational queries from stored behavioral data. Its main technical contribution is an interpretable decision-support workflow in which risk summaries are derived deterministically from observable payment indicators and returned through template-based conversational explanations rather than opaque predictive models. The current release delivers an integrated Go backend, Flutter mobile client, MySQL persistence layer, Firebase-based notification support, and container-assisted deployment for reproducible use and extension. By combining auditable scoring with natural-language access to operational records, GoRent provides a reusable research-software baseline for studying explainable decision support, heuristic intervention policies, and user-facing explanation strategies in low-data recurring-payment settings.
