Abstract: To highlight the critical importance of repositories, COAR is publishing a Narrative Series that provides several compelling, evidence-based portrayals that together build a powerful case for repositories as essential infrastructure for the global knowledge commons. This document is the second narrative that demonstrates the importance of repositories in supporting preservation and ensuring local soveriegnty of research outputs.
