Abstract: The digital economy has seen the rise of mobile banking, which is changing the way modern commerce and financial services are delivered. The primary goal of this paper is to highlight and analyze the main opportunities and challenges of mobile banking in the development of modern commercial activities. The paper presents a comprehensive review of recent studies, industry reports and global trends to highlight major opportunities enabled by mobile banking, including the expansion of digital transactions, enhanced support for small-scale and informal businesses and the acceleration of cashless economy initiatives. At the same time, it provides a critical review of the challenges that hinder widespread adoption, including cybersecurity risks, regulatory and compliance complexities, technological disparities, and concerns about consumer trust. This study combines existing literature and empirical insights to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of mobile banking in contemporary commerce and addresses the operational and strategic constraints of mobile banking. The findings have important implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders seeking to improve mobile banking ecosystems and promote sustainable growth in the evolving digital economy.
