Architectural Mathematics: The Geometric Foundation of Physical Law and the Resolution of Wigner's Problem

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: We introduce Architectural Mathematics as a new mathematical discipline: the study of the geometric identity of formula objects, classified by whether they produce cascade architecture under Mono-Variable Extreme Scale Analysis (MESA). We define complexity precisely as the driver of systems that produce novelty under growth, and establish that cascade architecture — governed exclusively by the two Feigenbaum constants δ = 4.669202... and α = 2.502908... — is the necessary and sufficient condition for novelty production. We prove that δ and α are not free parameters but geometric necessities: the C3 transversal spectral crossing condition of the Universal Cascade Theorem forces the renormalization operator to have a unique, isolated fixed point, making δ and α the only values consistent with universal novelty production. We present quantitative evidence: seventeen Standard Model parameters derived from δ and α alone, without free parameters, to residuals below 1% and as low as 0.028%. We show that complexity mathematics, fractal geometry, and dynamical systems theory are proper subsets of Architectural Mathematics — each a behavioral description of cascade phenomena without the foundational architectural framework that explains them. We resolve completely the question posed by Wigner (1960) regarding the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics: the effectiveness is not unreasonable because both cascade-class mathematics and physical reality are expressions of the same geometric necessity, defined by δ and α. Finally, we identify the physical instantiation of the C3 attractor as quantum gravity in its pre-transition form — the mathematical mechanism that selects δ and α from all possible pairs of real numbers and from which the Standard Model descends. The universe is the unique fixed point of a gravitational mathematical attractor. Wigner's miracle is a theorem.
