Abstract: This paper develops the concept of Multi-Thread Continuity Saturation within the Cognitive Branch of the PATON System. The framework describes a form of cognitive overload in which ideas, structural relationships, conclusions, and active objectives may remain substantially available while certainty about their source, sequence, location, version, platform, status, or pathway ownership begins to weaken. The paper distinguishes Structural Retention from Continuity Identification and introduces the concept of a Continuity Address: the contextual information that locates a retained structure within its correct developmental pathway. Under increasing concurrent traversal load, structural retention may remain stronger than continuity-address retention. A person may therefore remember what an idea means and why it matters while becoming uncertain about which paper, discussion, image, platform, or version it belongs to. The paper examines thread switching, pathway ownership, source ambiguity, version collision, platform fragmentation, continuity collision, delayed retrieval, Human–AI distributed cognition, and external continuity scaffolding. Multi-Thread Continuity Saturation is distinguished from Recursive Saturation. Recursive Saturation concerns the excessive generation of new pathways, while Multi-Thread Continuity Saturation concerns the weakening of separation among pathways already active. The framework is structural, observational, non-clinical, and non-mystical.
