Abstract: Vascular closure devices (VCD) are commonly used for rapid haemostasis after femoral arterial cannulation, however, serious adverse events may rarely occur. We describe a case where use of Perclose Proglide for closure of the right femoral artery (RFA) access site led to focal arterial dissection, entrapping the footplate of a second Proglide device during staged percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The trapped device was eventually extracted using intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided balloon angioplasty with cross-over approach. This case highlights the potential complications of VCD and possible endovascular strategies in tackling such issues.
