Excision of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of Hard Palate and Nasal Septum by Midfacial Degloving Approach: A Case Report

Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Adenoid cystic carcinoma is one of the rare tumors that occur in the head and neck region; its incidence is around <1% of all head and neck tumors. The palate is the most common site in the oral cavity, followed by parotid gland and submandibular gland. One of the rare sites is nasal septum, which is discussed in this case report. These tumors are usually asymptomatic, slow growing, and most commonly involved with perineural invasion. For the complete removal of this tumor in midline sites like nasal septum, midfacial degloving approach is a useful technique that helps in adequate exposure, with the advantage of better functional and cosmetic outcomes.
