Abstract: According to the terms of reference, the main objective of this independent assessment was to add value to the country-level reviews by providing critical and objective analysis that contributes to a holistic picture of the status of the implementation of the ICPD POA in sub- Saharan Africa, 15 years on. The assessment was also expected to provide for, and inform, the future direction of UNFPA support to sub-Saharan Africa.
